LEARN THE LANGUAGE
The region of Catalonia has two official languages which are Catalan and Spanish. Catalan is taught in schools and used in shops and offices. For Barcelona newcomers that are looking to settle down here, it may be useful to pick up some Catalan words. Even though, you can easily get by with English. Everyone here at the very least has a basic level of English.
If you are adventurous enough, Catalan courses are completely free! The courses are run by The Consortium for Language Standardization and there are 6 different levels to sign up to, from beginners to advance. These classes are provided free of charge.
