August has come to an end and unfortunately summer is almost over but September is full of activities to do! Don’t waste your time and find out all the surprises and secrets that the sunny Barcelona holds for you. Discover with us what to do in Barcelona in September!

Most of Barcelona’s neighborhoods celebrate their own festival or “Festa Major” during this month. September begins with Poblenou’s Festa Major, that lasts from September 8th to September 17th. There you will feel the warm environment of the streets as well as the positivity and the optimism that is going around. Also in La Barceloneta you can celebrate their Festa Major, offering the visitors many activities to join in, such as free concerts, street markets and Catalan traditions (correfoc), during the last week of the month.

However, the main party of September is “La Mercè”. La Mercè was the patroness of the city and she is celebrated every September 24th. It’s a bank holiday in Barcelona, so the locals take the time to participate in different events and celebrations during four or five days. You will find many theatres at Parque de la Ciutadella and traditional events in Plaça Sant Jaume, as well as open-doors museums all around the city.

During that day, the BAM Festival (Barcelona Acció Musical) will take place (from September 22-25th). It’s a music festival that brings together every year musicians, both national and international, playing in different areas of the city. This year, Iceland will be the guest country.

Apart from this, if there is an important event in Barcelona this month is “La Diada”. It’s Cataluña’s Day (September 11th), being a bank holiday with many institutional acts.

In case you are not in the mood to go to party, you can always eat in wonderful areas. This is your last opportunity to have dinner with the stars!! “Sopar amb estrelles” gives you the opportunity to have dinner at one of the best terraces in Barcelona, while you have an amazing view from the top and with an explanation of the constellations.

September is also your last opportunity to go to brunch party on a Sunday. “Brunch in the park” comes to an end but don’t be sad!! Brunch in the city is coming back!!

Continuing with the music topic, many concerts will take place during this month. So check them out! BTW, if you like reggaeton, Maluma is coming on the 17th.

Also many art expositions are being hold, and if we can recommend you one, “David Bowie Is”, which finishes on the 25th, is a great exposition at the Museu del Disseny de Barcelona.

Keep looking for different activities to do in Barcelona and try to go to them all! It will be worth it!
