Sunday Brunch in Barcelona

The word ‘brunch’ is a combination of breakfast and lunch, and it usually happens between breakfast and lunch time.

Brunch: Breakfast+Lunch at a time closer to breakfast

Blunch: Breakfast+Lunch at a time closer to lunch

Drunch: Dinner+Lunch

Brinner: brunch for dinner

Depending on the hour, some might define it as a late breakfast, or as an early lunch. It all dated back to the end of the 19th century in England. It seems to have created by the British upper classes. Actually, on Sundays wealthy families would give their servants the day off, but only after getting them to prepare a buffet style meal. However, this meal was supposed to be eaten thought out the rest of the day.

Furthermore, in 1896, the following comment was made about brunch:

“To be fashionable nowadays we must “brunch”.

We believe that this saying is equally true nowadays. Brunch is fashionable again. Especially after many shows such as “Sex and the City” created by Darren Star. These days, the brunch is usually associated with the weekend. Perhaps because we can sleep in these days.
